my alarm buzzer will not stop buzzing.
I have 2 wires coming from the buzzer (inside the control box).
- 1 purple
- 1 tan w/blue stripe

I traced both, the purple goes to the tach
and the tan goes to that general area also but is not connected

Can anyone tell me which side of the tach this wire goes to ?

Thanks in advance

PS- I've already checked all things this alarm is related to (oil res. , overheating, etc )

Something is wrong. Don't know what type of boat you have so I will be generic.

On Merc's, newer style, a solid buzzer will imply overheat, on older units it can mean Overheat, low Oil Pressure, Low Oil, Low trim Oil.

How all of the systems work is the alarm switch is "normally open" meaning electricity will not go through. When something is out of the ordinary, it will close(i.e. too hot).

The power comes from the purple wire (ignition circuit) and as soon as on of the sending units close, you will have a path and the alarm will sound.

remove the wires from the sending units until the alarm sound stops, then go figure out what is wrong.

Re: wiring question

I found the problem.
I was tracing a wire that was not connected , thinking that it needed to be.
The problem was a grnd that had melted and fused with the sending unit wire,
and caused the buzzer to continually run. It was difficult to find this meltdown
because it was inside the factory wrapping.
