Wiring recommendation regarding grade/size/brand?

Should have not double and triple checked everything for the upcoming weekend. Somehow 28 year old cables don't like to be touched (never had this issue with 28 year old ones before :p).

Some of my wires (the ones on the boat of course) just suddenly break in half when being touched/moved. And I am gentle!

Can you advise or recommend about what brand/size/grade wire to get in order to replace standard wiring? Not the heavy duty from the battery to starter/motor, I am talking about the ones to the instruments, tilt and lights.

I would otherwise just use automotive wiring. I always shrink-wrap and seal connectors, but what about the wires? I mean, in marine applications, they are exposed to a lot of UV. Not salt water in my case.

Thanks a bunch in advance.

If exposed to UV's you can get convoluted tubing and ties to go over the wires pretty cheap!

Well, that's what I do, I have all wires inside tubing, just have to replace the wires now. Since I have to spend the time and effort, I want to make sure I use the "right" one.

Pretty much all the same. Can get at any auto/marine store. Wouldn't use anything less than 14/16 gauge wire. And if you can, solder the connections. Good Luck!

I sure will do. No need to really "solder", I got these fancy connectors from Europe, wires slide in from both sides, in the center is tin, once heated up with a heat gun, the wires slide in and it solders them together. Then I heat up the ends and it shrink wraps them.

Thank you, luckily it is just a few wires I am having, so it should not be a big deal. The main issue I am having is that they are all black, at least now. Oh well.
