Wiring replacement ignition switch

I have to replace my ignition switch and have ordered a new one (see pic 1)

My problem is that the wires on the replacement appear to be somewhat smaller than what is connect to the old switch (see pic 2)

My questions is how best to splice the new switch to the existing wires?

The singles I don't expect much of a problem with and plan to use butt splices but I need to double up on red and purple so those are the ones I'm most concerned about

Thanks

Re: Wiring replacement ignition switch

mariner wiring colors are Wiring Color Codes for Mercury & Mariner Outboard Motors.

as long as you have not added items to the boats ignition circuit you should be fine.

they make but splices that are for different size wires that are heat sealed but most people just use a standard butt splice that is rated for the larger wire then heat seal them

Thanks for the link to the color code.

Got the new switch in the mail and it looks like the wires are the same size as what's in the boat...about 12 ga if I had to guess...so I should be pretty much good to go. If I can't splice two to one with a regular size butt splice I'll go find the ones for different sized wire you mentioned.
