Wiring spreader lights

I am familar with the general discussions regarding adhesive sealed butt end connectors being the recommended means of connecting marine wiring over soldering. My question is how to accomplish this with my spreader lights (LEDs) that will go on my radar arch. Basically I will have a power and ground line that will go from the dash switch up to the lights. The far light (port) is no problem, however I will need to splice the line some how for the closer light (starboard). My only current thought would be to cut the line add some shink tube and twist the 3 back together then solder prior to pulling the shink tube over. Are their any other thoughts on how I might accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Re: Wiring spreader lights

Are these connections going to be exposed or tucked away inside the radar arch?

Yes, they will be snaked through the arch hence not exposed much to the elements.

Post a picture of your arch and light setup. Not sure what kind of arch or lights you are talking about.

For splicing, I use an uninsulated butt connector large enough to accept two wires twisted together inserted into one end. Put the single wire into the other end and crimp well. Use double wall shrink tube,(the inner layer is self sealing) and put a small amount of silicone sealer between the double wires before shrinking.

For the exact same issue, I just used an oversized connector so that it would accept two wires on one side, to spllce in the stbd. spreader light.
