Hello; new to the forum so take it easy on me.
Just bought a 1992, 100hp Mercury 2+2. I need to run a tach, and have no idea what wire off the ignition to run the tach to; any suggestions/wiring schematics will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Wiring tachometer

Your tach requires 3 wires to work. (4 if you want the light to work) A ground, 12V normally taken from the purple wire going to the switch, and the tach feed from the motor (gray wire). Look on the front of your remote you may have a socket where you can plug a harness in for those connections. On the back of the tach make sure it is set to 6P.

Re: Wiring tachometer

Might have known it would be the grey wire; thank you vary much; you really don?t know how much you?ve helped. One other question; I would like to buy a factory shop manual for this motor ?(OD136282) in any event, any suggestions on where I can find this manual? I really don?t want the generic shade-tree manual; I want a real shop manual.
Thanks again

Download a factory manual HERE. Password for the file is <ribforum>. I use 7-Zip to decompress the file....
