Am rewiring my dash opn 1974 model 19 when hooking lights for gauges temp amp. And tach all go directly to zero. Nothing else except lights are wired in. Someone said there may be a resitor wire somewhere in the harness, can anyone tell me for sure?

Re: Wiring woes

It sounds like you either blew a fuse or disconnected a power or ground wire.

Nothing personal, but while boat wiring isn't exactly rocket science it can get more involved than people expect. It's a good idea (actually just about a necessity) to plan everything out ahead of time and make schematic drawings of what you're going to do. At that point it becomes a simple matter of connecting the dots. I've seen some awful nightmarish looking wiring on the two boats I've bought, it's amazing neither one of them went up in flames.

Gauges are wired like this. I can't make head nor tail out of your description but yes there is a resistor wire in SOME boat I/O and Inboard IGNITIION systems. It has nothing to do with your gauges.
