Wiring...

Ok welll I have a couple of questions.. My duck boat is in the making and is almost ready for paint... I have stripped the whole inside out... Seats, Console, anything that is in need of being re painted... My question is the motor has 3 cables going to it.. The posotive(red), Ground(Black) and then the wires going to the coil.. RIGHT?? I am trying to figure out why the boat wont crank over but everything on this boat is jimmy rigged.. So I am going to just rip all the wires out and start fresh.. I bout a posotive and negative lead today.. I am about to start on the Ignition wires tomorrow but have no idea where to start.. Anyone have any helpful advice..

its a Terry 15'ft alluminum boat with a Evinrude 35 horse on it... I am trying to figure out what wires to run where..

If you post All the Info you Know about your Motor, Including any #s you have on it,.....

I worked on a small Rude (7hp sailor) that had three wires going to the handle in front of the engine. Turned out it was a remote starting system and had broken wire in it. Rude made the harness and I'll bet it was expensive to replace.

Ok well I went to the local shop and talked to an old man who knew boat motors backwards and forward.. I bought a new ignition switch hooked everything up and still nothing.. I am takin it to him on Saturday morning.. he said he would look at it for free so I aint goin to pass that up...I have another question I was told my motor was a 1978 but now I am starting to wonder.. I pulled the numbers today and this is what I got... Evinrude 35hp model # 35935A.. I found the site and the closest thing I saw to a 78 yr model was a 35953???? Anyone know how to figure this one out..

Brandon, look at that number again. i can't find it either. i've found that sometimes you need a flash light to make them stand out. whe you get to wiring the boat. there is a new generic wiring diagram in the engine faq forum.
