Won’t stop !!

I have 1978 mercury 800, starts and runs great, won’t shut off.... last time I had to disconnect the gas line and wait for it to die. Any help please !

Until you find the problem a short term way to kill the motor is by using the choke, almost instant.

Has the motor been shutting off OK? Have you done any work on the motor? And finally, got the serial number of the motor?
