wont shut off

i have an 85hp force motor just took out today for first time in a while, now it had trouble starting but finally got it going then wanted to die when put in gear, but not so bad the final problem is once i get it started it wont turn off so i just pinched the fuel line, anybody know what the prob. is?

also im not sure what year it is
M492631 is one the power block
and 633 as well anyone know the year?

Hey, check around motor. There should be a plate with a model number. With this model number the year can be looked up. Reply with model number. If not me (I will try)I am sure someone will look it up for you. This forum is great. Frank will probable be with you this evening and assist you.
