I have a 1986 Bayliner with a AQ225E engine (305 V8). I just pulled it out of winter storage and it won't start. Cranks ok. I found that the igintion coil, center post was full of light oil, appears the coil leaked. I had a spare coil and installed it (external resistor) It still won't fire. Any suggestions where to go next? Thanks

How old is the gas? Check the points and cond if not electronic. How old are the plugs?

Re: Won't start

Take a test meter or test light and with the ignition on test your voltage at the 12volt wires on your coil to insure that you do in fact have 12 volts going to the coil. If you don't have 12 volts at the coil you've eith got a bad ground, bad ignition switch or a break in a wire up line from the coil.
If you do have 12 volts at the coil then check to see if you have spark at the spark plugs. If you have spark at the spark plugs and still no start, then you have a fuel problem.

Re: Won't start

I will try all of the suggestions tomorrow. Thank You. With respect to the gas, it has been in the tank since November. I did put in Heet before stoing the boat.
