Hi I'm new to the forum we just got the boat I am very mechanically inclined in cars and diesels. Here's my problem. We got the boat put in a battery and it would not start just click so I replaced the starter and selonoid. Then it started just fine. Brought it to the lake while in the water the plug started to leak well it got enough water in it to cover the bottom of the motor and allow the serpentine belt to splash water around. We ended up with a problem with the tilt pump motor so I replaced it. Now the tilt has no problem going down but doesn't like going up. Thats problem 1. I'm going to take it out and clean the connections to make sure there's good contact. Any advise on that us appreciated as I don't have much experience with that. My second problem is now the boat won't turn over its back to clicking. Did the amount of water fry the new starter. I know the stuff says for marine but can it get wet like that. Don't want to pull it again hoping I'm missing something. Thanks in advance for any help

the starter drowned and is dead. most likely the battery cable has also suffered some internal damage and should be replaced
Does it go up in "trailer mode" if yes solenoid and wiring is good,,
If nothing with the trim switch , check the trim limit switch wiring

?????????????????????
But with a bilge pump larger than the largest hose/drain plug/thru hull fitting how did you not notice pumping out the water
