Won't stay running-50 HP Force

I have a 50 HP Force about a 1988. It runs great in the barrel. When I put it in the water and put it in gear to take off it dies. Any suggestions.

Could be:
low compression,
running lean,
low idle,
weak spark.

time to do some testing.

Start with compression and spark.

What is the idle rpm in neutral?
in gear?

Compression is about 120 to 122 in both cyl.. The Idle is about 750 to 800 rpm's. There is a spark, but i don't know how to check it.
