Wood slat bench type seat?

I have a '58 Lone Star and would like to make new seats for it. I really like the look of slats compare to just wood. Has anyone used wood slats that might be able to give me ideas?

I love the old Glass Lonestars.
I think you have answered you own question. Use several coats of Epiphanes Marine varnish and they'll last for ever.
