Tengals123,

Yeah, the key isn't a problem. The big one I ordered I'll keep in the boat, the little one that come with the deck plate will go on my car keys.

Those are really good deck plates, regardless of the price. Of course, they're made in China, so thats why the price is so reasonable.

Odd that this old boat was made in Pennsylvania, USA a few hours from where I live with high quality materials, labor and motor all made in USA. Then 40 years later I rebuild it with parts made in China because I couln't afford the parts if they were made here. Every time I see "Made in China" or "Hecho en Mexico" I get a little depressed.

Hi Mark,
Maybe it's too late at this point, but have you test-run your boat with that much weight up forward? I think the boat was originally designed to carry the tanks in the rear, so moving that much weight all the way forward may make handling a bit quirky... Just a thought...
- Scott

at only 14 gallons, I don't think you'll have too much of a problem.

Mark, 'everything' is made in china these days. I just got back from business in china, MAN, they can produce stuff like it's going out of fashion.

cheers

That's still well over 100 lbs. added far forward of the center of gravity point in the boat. I notice a fair difference in my boat when my 60 lb. dog or 90 lb. kid moves from one end to the other....

- Scott

Chinewalker,

The more weight I've had up front, the better it handled at top speed. For round numbers lets assume 120lbs for 14 gal gas, tank, hose, mounts. On average, it will be about half that, or 60 lbs, made no difference in the past with gear stored there. At this point I don't see a problem. I'll report the resulting handling, good or bad.
