I was wondering if the Chevy commercial that was entirely in Spanish was aired throughout the U.S. or was it just a West Coast thing?

I saw it aired a few days ago and then again last night. The first time I saw it I thought it was a mistake by the broadcasters. Guess not.

Then G.M. sponsored that pre-game latin fantasy players roster. Lovely.

I guess this country is being sold out for the all-mighty dollar.

Yes, I saw it here in Houston.

Who do you blame, the companies for trying to sell their products, or the people that would be influenced by a commercial in spanish.

Ken

If I move to a Spanish(or any other for that matter) speaking country...should I expect/demand them to learn my language?

This doesn't bug me as it is driven by economics.

What does bug me is bilingual stuff that is gov't supported. Why does our govt feel it is necessary to have bilingual ed etc for Hispanics, but it did/does not for Italians, Asians, Germans etc. etc.? Does this inconsistency seem a little condescending? I seem to ask the following question a lot . . . Am I missing sumpin'?

Quietcat is right, education in spanish is wrong. My stepson moved here when he was 4 and hardly spoke any english. I threw him in preschool and he picked it up in three months.

But, having been to many foreign lands, many road signs are in English, even in China.

I think if you went to Mexico, you would find many things in english, all trying to get you to buy something.

Ken
