WOT 3900 RPM 4.3 V6 2004 Bayliner

I'll try this here. I went out with my buddy yesterday on his NEW TO HIM 2004 195 4.3 V6 Bayliner. He had it WOT and the boat went 43 MPH with the RPM at 3900. It was not on GPS it was with his speedo and my boat next to him. Oil pressure and temp is fine, but not sure what to look for. Any help would be appreciated. The prop on his boat is 14.5X19. Thanks in advance.......

First thing I would check would be the tach. You can't change prop pitch enough to get to the proper WOT rpm from a 14.5 X 19 prop. You have something else wrong, and at 43mph, it's probably the tach.

I came to the same conclusion in the prop section . . . Duplicate thread.
