WOT for 175 Evinrude

[StratMan290FS]

I have a 1990 Evinrude XP 175, i am running a 14.5x20 raker now and WOT is about 5500-5600. I was looking for more speed, could i go with a higher pitch and run my rpm's around 52-5300? I saw somewhere the WOT range for this motor is 45-5500, so should i be at the top of this or just anywhere inside it?

5800 WOT for most J/E v4 and V6's.

BEFORE GOING TO ANOTHER PROP, YOU COULD TRY MOVING YOUR ENGINE UP ONE NOTCH ON THE TRANSOM. BE SURE TO KNOW EXACTLY WHERE YOU WATER PRESSURE IS AFTER DOING THIS. YOU MAY GAIN SOME RPM WITHOUT SACRIFCING HOLE SHOT.
