Hello, i need an opinion on a stainless prop. What i have now is a solas 17" pitch 14.8 al 3 blade prop.
I want to switch to a 4 blade stainless and heres what im thinking. I cant reach my redline of 5500rpm

I have a 1988 chaparral 2300 with a cobra drive. I have a carberated 98 vortec truck engine. It makes about 250hp i would guess.

Right now with a light load it will run 4700rpm and 49mph. I want to increase the rpm by 500 or so.

The boat is big and heavy but is doing ok with a light load. Im looking at a 14.5"x16p 4 blade stainless prop. My question is should i spend my money on a 15" or 16" pitch 4 blade. I need the stern lift of a 4 blade and i honestly think the aluminum prop i have now is flexing. Thoughts please?

Ayuh,... Find a chart with yer motor's Torque curve...

Ya want yer WOT rpms to be 'bout a hundred or maybe 2, above the peak in the chart...

A standard production Marine 4.3l, That's 4800 rpms...

That said, I'd try the 16"...
