Would this cause WOT not to achieve higher RPM's?

The engine is an 88 Force 125HP. I can get up to about 4900-5000 RPM's at WOT trimmed out with a Hustler 13 1/4 X 17 Pitch prop. I'm wondering if the fuel Diaphragm could cause me not to get up to about 5500 RPM's? I have never changed this and have had the boat for about 5 years. It did sit for about 1, while I redid the floor and inside of the boat. So I am wondering if this has any deterioration that could keep me from getting those higher RPM's. The boat is running better than it ever has, just looking for a few more RPM's without going to the 15 pitch prop to do it.

Thanks,
Bryan Cox

you can try this it worked with my 1986 225. when i had my plugs gapped at .040 WOT= 5,000 RPM, Plugs gapped at .030 WOT= 5,500 RPM. It worked for me and my service manual spec was .040 and my engine clearly ran better with the plugs gapped at .030.

Thats cool, wouldn't have though of that. Also what about Timing, if it was advanced any would that do anything? The plugs that I have are surface gap NGK plugs that were recommended on here. BUHX, I believe.

Thanks for the input.

Bryan Cox
