Re: would this motor be too big?

holy smokes....for a 14 footer bud.....its kinda .....big.
if you have a standard 14 foot tinny.....then....no.

but
check the uscg rules at the top of the forum for max hp rating.

also on your boat is a capasity tag....it will say weight ...max hp and everything........if it says ok.......then ....welll yes you can.....

but that looks like a huge motor for a car topper

allmost looks like an old viking motor around 35-40 hp.....

it also has no tiller that i can see....so you would have to have a steering wheel in your boat

Re: would this motor be too big?

Well, I don't think I'd want to go more than 35-40hp on my 14ft aluminum ( running 25 now @27mph ). However, I'm using a tiller. IF the boat had a steering console, then a 40hp wouldn't necessarily be over the top...my 14ft would never go on a car top, much less hefted into the back of a pickup.

I second TD's vote....1960 +/- Evinride 40HP.
It is set up for remote control.
Grew up with one of those...learned to waterski....drive it....etc.
Great motor but at least 10 HP too big for most 14 foot Al boats

Yep that's a Lark...59 or newer...35hp at least. Way too much for a 14-foot tinny unless you have a helm, steering wheel and remote controls. Might be worth the price if you can resell or swap it for a 25hp...check the compression first, as well as LU oil, how it shifts, does it have spark, etc.
