Re: WOULD YOU BUY A CHAMPION BOAT?

Hey JP Welcome,

Don't know much bout um.

Reading "In fisherman" couple Fridays ago and saw two of their models, ads in the mag. Don't know if I had ever seen them before though name sounds familiar (not including spark plugs) I look pretty hard at all the ads and read the fluff from the manufacturer.

I was going to a show the next day to order a boat I've been looking at. Walked out of the big boat hall and saw this one lone new boat (like to look at them all when I can). Went over to take a look, it seemed strange it there all by itself. I just shot my wad so I was just (really) looking. No worries though there was no sales person just a sho-card with specs, xtras & price.

Said to my wife "I just saw this boat in a mag last night, I don't think I've seen these before"

It was a nice boat "looked" well made and it was very inexpensive. ?Inexpensive? - Look hard before buying! Do your homework. They all have some pros but what are the cons.

Check out previous years models here at NADA --> http://www2.nadaguides.com/

Check out your boat here at Champion --> http://www.championboats.com/

See what others think here at JD Power --> http://www.jdpa.com/

Look for other web sites go to many search engines and type --> Champion Boats.

Good luck, have fun, look before you leap, don't be penny wise and pound foolish and all that stuff Dad said!!!

;)

Yes; if that's the boat you want. Make the dealer give you a major discount if not dealer cost due to the lame duck status (read lack of warranty and no factory support) of the boat. Have the dealer show you the factory invoice and work from there. In the end you take the short term savings in return for assuming the long term risk. So make your best deal and go for it.

Sorry about the miss information it looks like Genmar (also owns Ranger,Hydra-Sports,etc) has made the deal to acquire Champion as of 1/8/2002 goto www.genmar.com/pr/news for the full report.
Not sure how they will handle warranty's.

They are certainly not bad boats. Not in the same league as Triton.

If you like it, the deal is right and you trust the dealer---enjoy!

Champions are very popular & well respected out here in Northern California.Theyre built to handle big water. They may not be in the same league as Triton, but they are more affordible too.
