Yes, I believe you would be just fine with that product.....However prep is 95% of any job, so be sure to do the correct prep and wiping/cleaning....follow the manufacture's instructions....good luck with your project!

Yep good stuff. But..

You only need it for Totally Bare Aluminum. It is "Self Etching" which is required for bare aluminum. You only need a light coating of the stuff. Moeller makes a good self etching primer too! As with any paint it's all in the prep. With aluminum a good cleaning and wash with mild acidic solution is best. Lot's of guys just use white vinegar and water with a 50/50 mix to prep after a light sanding with 180 grit. I'd recommend that you use a good Primer over the entire hull after the Self Etching primer especially if there is any left behind paint. Depending on your choice for your final paint, you should consult them to see what their recommendations are for primers.

This will be over a totally stripped down bare aluminum Lund hull. Question about prep. How long do I have after sanding and wiping before you have to be concerned with the aluminum oxidizing. Does the primer have to go on immediately afterward or can it sit for a day before starting with the Petit Primer.

I wouldn't wait more than a couple of hours. For sure not overnight. Wash it down with the acid wash and let it dry for a couple or hours and then prime it.

unfortunately who ever had the boat put a thick coat of something on the bottom that had very good adhesion but it was all scratched up and crappy looking due to age and use. I had to use a wire brush on the angle grinder to get the stuff off. It would of looked like crap if I sprayed over it. This is going to be a total restore so figured if the rest of the boat is going to look new I would try and get the hull looking the best it can even if it costs more and takes more time.

Pics please ... your first post does not match your last post ..

Alumiprep, Alodine, ZC primer, scuff ..prime and paint with some good stuff is all I can recommend.

If your soapy water gets under your "feather" then your boned ..

YD.
