Would you reuse rod bearings in a rebuild?

I'm rebuilding a 96 E115ELEDR and just looked at the price of the bearing kits for this motor..OUCH!

If the bearings aren't damaged would anyone here reuse them?

My previous rebuilds of smaller motors I've always replaced every bearing just in case. This time cost is going to be a factor.

Cheers

As long as they (any brg) still have a mirror finish... use them. If they've turned a shade of blue, discard them.

I do the same as Joe, if they have been overheated, replace. IF all seems well, I reuse them.

Hey hightrim, all the bearings look great actually so I think I will reuse them. What about the center main bearings on the crank? They look fine too. I am going to replace the upper and lower crank bearings and the wrist pin needle bearings for sure.

Defineatly replace the wrist pin bearings but if the upper and lower crank bearings look okay I'd use them too.
