My first post on iboats happens to coincide with the purchase of my first boat!
I just bought a 1982 Glastron ssv-151 with an 80 horse, 4 cylinder mercury outboard. The test run yielded 5500 rpm's and 37 mph on old gas. The motor popped right off, idled great and, except for a weak stream on the coolant spout, ran great. Down side is having to mix gas.
I have an opportunity to trade this motor for an 86 Mariner 90 hp with the oil injection mounted under the motor cowling. This motor runs great but has a stall out of the hole. The boat is rated 90 horse maximum.
All else being equal would you make this trade even up? Why or why not?
