wrong fuel

what happens if i use my evinrude fuel tank on my mercury outboard i tried starting it and it started and was running smooth is it ok or not thanks

You've really went and done it now.
I saw this happen once before back in '73.
The sea Gods got really upset. Scuttlebutt was everywhere. Flotsom to the right, jetsom to the left. Lighthouses got heavy. Hermit crabs socialized. Freeboard got expensive. General quarters got demoted. It was total anarchy!

I'm afraid you're going to have to take on a boat restoration project to set things right. You might even need to develop MBS.

Hmmmmm. What fuel mix do you have in the 'Rude tank, and what fuel mix does your Merc use??

All kidding aside.......nothing happens.
You could run that outboard out of a milk jug and it would be fine.
