I have a johnson 25 HP (j25balcnb, s/n b01677)

From the serial and model number I take it to be a 1982 belgium model. Here's the problem:

I want to replace the water pump, thermostat and add a rectifier to charge my battery. According to the Sierra catalog (and numourous other sites) I need the complete waterpump kit #18-3383 (repair kit for outboard # 395270) When I look at the picture however I can see a different set from what I can remember (six screws) when I last checked the impeller. I think I need the other set (18-3382) The Seloc (volume 2, section 8 page 111) also shows a six screw water pump housing for the 25-35 mechanical shift models. How can this be? Are there '82 models with '84 and later specs? Is this just an error in the (Sierra)catalog? I still run my boat frequently and can't take it apart at the moment. Also, since I live in europe and order the parts from the US (prices here are incredible)returning the parts is no option.

One more question if I may; Do I need the four or the three wire rectifier? (5709 or 5708) And is it just the rectifier I need to charge the battery from the external power source?

Thanx in advance, Lucas
