Hi this is my first post(been trolling here for awhile) and I finnally have a question that no one can answer at my local boat store nor have I found the answer on here.

I have a 1970 Evinrude 60hp(60073B).

I keep finding the wrong thermostat kit they keep trying to sell me the wrong one they want to sell me a Sierra kit with part #18-3669. I also looked it up on here and alot of other places including ebay and it always has the wrong housing gasket.

I need this gasket part#313417, this is from BRP's part catalog website and looks like mine. The part number for the gasket outta the sierra kit is oem part #313416-sierra#18-0929

My boat store said they can no longer get the one I need.

I also took the motor to the boat store and they said they could not get the right one due to it being so old ARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH.

I am just trying to freshin up the motor for this season which I am missing due to this part.

Ps....No I am not putting rtv on it at all I would like a gasket.

Re: Wrong parts

if nothing else, go the the auto parts store and get some gasket material, and an exacto knife and cut one, that's what we did in the old days. when there wasn't a parts store on every corner, coming home from college, i once took a rope and made a fan belt to get home, on my old truck, and i'm only 58. 63 ford f150, drove 50 miles didn't burn it up and got home. one of Daddy's proudest days. he might of been as proud when i graduated, but didn't show it. Yea i am thinking of doing that, hasn't been long since I made a gasket.

I once used my belt for my water pump and fan on my pickup to get home, lasted 30 miles :)

Thanks everyone ima check into it.
