Re: wrong prop

Generally speaking, a 17 pitch vs. a 19 pitch would give you a little less speed, more rpms, and a better hole shot(power). The actual amount of difference depends on your hull type and engine, load, etc. I am not the expert on these things I just know the general things that should change.

Re: wrong prop

Really can't provide an accurate answer without knowing the actual rpm's at wide open throttle(WOT), motor make, outdrive make, recommended WOT, and the current prop.

Re: wrong prop

Less pitch = higher rpm, less speed, better hole shot
More pitch = lower rpm, more speed, less hole shot GENERALLY!!!

The situation exists however, where a 17P may do just the opposite. It may increase speed, keep the same or provide better hole shot, and raise RPM. This happens when a higher pitch prop has put the engine way off its power curve. In other words the engine cannot twist the higher pitch prop at its recommended wide open throttle rpm.
