Hi in previous threat I had drilled holes in my transom that I didn't require and was looking to fill them in , we'll finally got round to it and turns out the wood in my transom is wrotten came out like soil ! Lol

It is a fiberglass boat and I have cut the inside layer of fiberglass of to remove wrotten wood , I am just wondering when I get new wood how do you attach it to outer fiberglass skin ? Then I guess I need to re fiberglass the inside

Also what kind of fiberglass will I require and what thickness of wood will I require ?

Thanks again

Re: rotten transom

A bit more of a description of your boat and some pictures would be helpful to give you better responses. Kind of hard to visualize what you are seeing with just a few words.

Most folks use polyester resin for their rebuilds, but vinyl ester (VE) resin is also a possibility. Epoxy tends to be too expensive, except for small areas.

Re: Wrotten transom

Match the thickness that was there, usually 1-1/2". Use 2 pieces of 3/4" exterior grade (not treated) plywood and bond them together with a waterproof adhesive (glue) like PL Premium, Gorilla Glue, or Tite-Bond III.
