My 1978 140 hp block has one cylinder that has already been rebored to .030 oversize and it needs more. As I understand- .030 is the max rebore.
The Johnson numbers are: Mod. 140ML 78C, Ser. J4984501.
I want to buy a replacement block that is the original bore (3.50") or at most, .010 oversize. Barebones, no crank or other parts. All mine are good except pistons and rings which I'll buy new. Is this motor even worth fixing???
I'm in NW Washington State.

Thanks guys

try craigslist or ebay for sources.

I just recently found out that you can get Wiseco pistons that are .060 over, (for my crossflow) so .030 is not an absolute figure.

also, resleeving is a fairly common solution, and can be done on a per cylinder basis without consequence.

is it worth it? if the rest of the motor is fine, then most would say yes.
