Y-pipe

Have a 1989 Mercruiser 4.3LX and Alpha 1 Gen 1 drive. I developed a small leak last year and discerned it was a leaking Y-pipe. I pulled the drive and the engine and sure enough, the Y-pipe had some corrosion and some small pin holes on the lower chambers.

My questions:

Is the Y-pipe V6 specific or will any small block V8 Y-pipe fit.?

Is the Y-pipe gen specific or will a late model take-off work?

Looking to find a used take-off and since more folks add thru-hulls to their V8, I thought I would have a better opportunity if these also fit the V6.

I believe the 4.3L and the 5.7L use the same y-pipe.

If you check the part number for your original Y pipe (-44266T) it supersedes to the current pipe (-807130A4). That's the pipe used on Gen IIs, so you have a lot more to choose from (I assume the original system is a 4" system)....
