Ahoy, John.

Welcome to iboats. :)

That's a 1970.

They're junk. Send it to me and I will dispose of it for you. 8)

Oh, alright.:'( That is one of the best small outboards ever made, by anybody.

Re: yachtwin help

Yep, the little 4hp models were great motors! They were essentially an evolution of the earlier 3hp models, which were legendary for their smooth idle, easy starting and long term reliability.
One thing I will say, though, is to run it a little fat on the oil, as it still has bronze babbit bearings at most of the main journals. I've got a box full of junk blocks that were likely a result of running at 50:1. If it were mine, I'd run it at 40:1 or even 32:1 if it's getting hard use...

Sold my neighbor a 84....think I got a chance to to buy it back (wants more hp on the 12footer). This time I'm keeping it (along with the 3 3hp "Weedless" I can't sell because I already made room in the coffin for them. Yep, there going with me. Great motors!

good little engine dad bought one new 24 years ago and it had run faultless ever since with little attention and much use. Its my back up (I run a 33hp ski-twin)and is used more often than it should
