Is 2004 a unique year for yamaha 60 HP motors?

Have a shift problem. Motor will do reverse, idle and accel in neutral but will not go into Forward gear! I can get some forward engagement if I put enough force on the shifter to lift the console off the deck

Try adjusting the shift cable.

Thanks guys, I disconnected the cables, accel and shift and the cables work properly. I have sprayed WD40 and Silicon in the area where the shifter connects at the powerhead before going down to the lower unit. Starting to get some better shifting. Will let you know if this fixes the problem. Is there a grease/zerk fitting for the shifter? Thanks again, JamesMc
