From time to time I have seen posts referring to problems with the 250 but never what the problems were or what years are involved. Also I see a fair number of 250s on ebay. Problems - true of rumor???

My wish book contains an item to repower my 23' CC with twin 20 year old OMC V4 Sea Drives (@110 hp each) and I am looking at what my options might be with an OMC or Yammy 225+ - - used of course (would love to buy a new 225 ETEC but that is out of the $$$ question).

They have been basically reliable. The newer ones if well mainted have also been very good. Pre 94 models had a problem with corroded shift shafts and heads.

dude,I got an OX66 motor on the floor now.low compression in #3.the guy is reporewing with an F250.the motor is very low hours and clean asa button.cant remember the shaft length.
but for a reman job?this one is great.
I thinkto much maint killed it.
if I had a 20" mid section I would grab it for my hydra-sport. the 175 E-TEC is nice but a 250 OX66 wouldbe more fun.
