Yahama 25hp 1998 impeller question.

Hi ... Quick question.... I am sufffering from frazzeled brain syndrom... so I know I am missing someing simple... here goes..... My Impeller died.. I am trying to get the lower unit off.... However, My problem is disconnecting the shifter... The workshop manual I have is really confusing... ( may just be me ) Ok my queston. do I dis onnect the shifter at the bolt connector which is just above the rear of the lower unit.. Or do i have to disconnect it at the shifter under the motor where the shifter arm connects... BTW its a tiller motor...

Every motor I have done was disconnected at the lower unit, but I have not looked at a 1998 25

The reason I asked was becasue the manual doesnt really make it clear.... I found just above the lover unit a small nut and what appears to be a long sleeve style nut.... So I am assuming this is the connection .... Its a different type of connection that on the Jonnyrude I had.... And the manual just says disconnect the shifter rod.... Thanks
