Yahama F20 Fuel Pump

I recently purchased a new fuel pump and it didn't come with the water inlet and outlet fittings. It has the threaded holes for them but didn't have the fittings. I can't figure out how to get the fittings off of the old fuel pump. the lower one will never be able to screw out because of the length of it. When I try and unscrew the top one, it actually turns the lower one as well but stops when the fitting hits the body. I hope this makes sense. I can't figure it out.
