Yam 200 tilt really slows with thrust plate contact

Loving my Yammy 200 HPDI (esp. after a 454 OMC) but curious if this is a problem: tilt works fine but it really slows down when it contacts the 'side thrust plates' (or whatever they're called) as the motor is lowered into its trim range. I've applied grease to the contact surfaces and nothing appears bent, corroded or dinged. It's just that the pump motor seems to bog down like there's a lot of friction.
Is this normal?
Thanks, John

It is normal for it to slow down when it goes from tilt mode to trim mode.

Ray & JustInTime, thanks for the input.

I have little experience w/ o/b's and it seemed to be really lugging -- rather fix before something pops since parts are pricey.

Appreciate the advice.
