Merry Christmas all,

The manual is very vague and I have stared at it and the engine long enough. The motor is an 89model with a leaking centre ram, do I need to remove the upper big pin that holds the ram unit or even the whole ram complete or can the reseal be done as a complete trim/unit but removed from the motor?

Any hints/tip appreciated.

Re: Yam 90 trim/tilt reseal

OK I am slowly getting a better handle on this, does anyone know if the tilt piston can be removed from the entire un-assembled engine?
The motor is on a stand down stairs, after wiping away a heap of grime I found the circlip that retains the big upper pin so that's cool, scared of this thing as the cost of stuffing up are large, but need to try it myself.

Any direction appreciated on how and where to head without risking other problems or pulling bit's I may not need to?

thanks even125

Re: Yam 90 trim/tilt reseal

you have to remove that pin at the top of the trim ram.
then remove the tilt cylinder cap with the appropraite spanner wrench, some time heat is nesasry to prevent elongating the holes in the cap.
while the tilt ram is out carefully inspect it for nicks or other damage.
replace all orings, wipers and back up rings and its easy.
its sometimes can be done with the unit in place but will require lifing the lowerunit higher after removing the tilt pin. its usually easier to remove the tilt unit from the midsection, after loosening the tilt cap.

Thankyou very much for the direction Rodbolt, I now have a pland:), need to locate the pin wrench first - always a problem in OZ our OEM parts are never much less than 300 - 400% dearer than in the US, makes for a cold shower when enthusiastic sometimes.
