Yamaha 115 dies when loading

I have a Yamaha 115 that starts and runs fine. When I load the boat on the trailer and try to power it up to the V, the engine loses power and dies. I am guessing this is due to the motor being trimmed up and since it's a carb'd engine, not getting fuel at that angle?? Anyone else have this going on?
