New to the forum as well as new to outboard motors. Needing some help,/advice. I purchased a pontoon with a 115 ETLG on it. I got it from an auction so I have no info about its past. I have owned plenty of I/O boats and am very comfortable with the mecHanical side of most any motor. I have searched the motor and have found some info but not really the info I need so if anyone has the answers I would appreciate them. I am assuming this motor mixes the oil to the fuel by the presence of the oil tank on the motor so no need to pre mix. Is he mixing system reliable? Is there any known issues I should ch fm for before starting/running the motor? With not knowing the history would it be wise to replace the water impeller (assuming they have one just like the i/o out drives). Again any tips or advice about the motor would be appreciated. Judging by the condition of the rest of the boat the motor should be in good shape. Thanks in advance for any replys

As no one is rushing to your aid and your question is more about the engine than the boat, I suggest you post your question on the Yamaha outboard forum here on iboats.com.

A factory repair manual would be a good start. A compression check before going too far.Change the gear case lube make note of old lube condition.
Any indication of water present would require new seals.
An impeller change is a must.
Read about waking a sleeping outboartd in the secret files at the top of the forum.

If it's running OK, an owners manual should answer most of your questions. A lot of times a google search on your make and model info can yield a .pdf copy of something like that for free.
