I have read all the info on props with RPM's and so forth. My boat has a 23 pitch prop i was wanting to know if anyone out there has this boat and what their prop pitch is. My boat is running to hi RPM for the speed i am running. At 35 mph i am running 4 thousand 5 hundred RPM. Just want to know what u other guys are running on your Stratos 285 Thanks Steve

The Yamaha web site has a test of a 285 Pro XL with a a V150TLR dated 7-6-2005. It will give all the info you ever wanted to know about what your boat might do at various RPM's using a Yamaha Pro series 14.5 X 23 pitch prop.

If using a different prop, your results might vary.

Thank you so much, next time out i will carry this chart with me and compare. Just traded for this boat and went fishing yesterday it seemed it was running a little high on the RPM at 35 MPH it was running 45 on the tach. The boat i had before would run about the same MPH and RPM within a 100 or so. I don't have my GPS on yet so next week i will do this and have a more accurate reading. My boat has the M23 prop on it. I was thinking of going to a 25 or a 24 4 blade. Thanks Again Cub48

Assuming the numbers you give are accurate indicates 33% slip. If we run the same numbers using a more typical 13% slip we get a rpm of about 3400.
You need to verify the tach.In order to lower your rpm to 3400 with a prop you would need to increase pitch about 4 or 5".
