Just a heads up when you’re planning to change out your water pump impeller. Buy the entire kit to include the housing. Yamaha uses the plastic housing, btw. Dropped my LU to do an impeller change and found out the housing was melted on one side. I got very lucky this thing didn’t overheat last weekend while I was running 5 miles of shore. Yes, I have SeaTow but the wife would’ve been miserable in the 104 degree heat index waiting on the boat, lol.
Got lucky and the local parts house had one in stock but it would’ve sucked to drop that LU and wait for 3-4 days for a $25 part. I did go ahead and change out the drive shaft seals and thermostats since I was working on it. All total, this maintenance cost me a little over $200 in parts, but still beats a blown motor because of no water.
