Not sure if its the lower unit or what. Everytime I shift in reverse. it make a grinding sound. Forward no problem. Also will a mid 90 yamaha 70hp lower unit fix on a 1997 yamaha 90hp. And when i drop the lower unit. is there anything I should watch out for. I'm guessing just remove the 4 bolt and the lower unit will drop down.

Thanks

You won't see anything if you drop the L/U. It's probably badly adjusted cables. The grinding is quite common due to that.

There's another bolt under the trim tab by the way, and they drop into gear easily if you remove it so make sure it's in neutral when refitting.
