I have a 1999 Yamaha 70hp 2 stroke on a smaller RIB. One day I went to take it out and even before I started it, at the initial key turn, I had an alarm.
.... I read posts and have disconnected the oil alarm connection (square plastic connector) and replaced the thermostat sensor. ... no joy

Still have alarm going off even before I start the motor... disconnected thermostat.. still have alarm...

when I do start it, it appears to be in limp mode and won't let me raise the rpms.. that's why I thought the motor believed it was overheating (thermostat).. even with thermostat disconnected i get alarm and limp mode

Any ideas??

thanks Greg

did you check the level of 2 stroke oil in both tanks?

stat does not send a signal, but a temperature switch or sensor does
