I get conflicting reports on what to do when winterizing your motor, I dont feel like paying to clean the carburetor every year thats for sure.

I do use yamaha additives for one tank of 6 gallon gas then i use sea foam when i fill up the second time but what should i do
run the gas out till it kills and loosen drain screw in carburetor or just leave the gas in the tank year round with fuel additive?

Re: yamaha 2 stroke, leave gas in or drain

I can tell you my experience with a Yamaha 90 that I owned for ten years. I put in plugs and an impeller every other year. The motor never saw a shop or a mechanic. Itoo used the recommended Yamaha additive. After the fresh water flush I would disconnect the fuel line at the motor and let it run down. It would lean out toward the end and start to race, so I would then throttle back. I never manually drained the three carbs. Great motor, sure wish I still had it. :)
