Compression test first! Dont do anything else til you do that. It will tell you a lot. Do all the cylinders. What is the model number of your motor. A lot of people here can help you! You need to give as much info on the motor as you can though!

Yamaha's run a weaker spark than their counterparts from Mercury and OMC. If you have compression and spark, drop the air silencer and squirt some gas in the throat of that cylinder and see if it picks up.

Re: yamaha 200 dead cylinder

Compression, spark and fuel. Gotta have all three to run. Don't forget it could be flooding the cylinder with fuel and not running also. Make sure its not spitting out the front of the carb. That would be due to reeds not sealing and thus not sucking fuel.
