The motors are 2000' but have very low hours. One motor runs perfectly. The other starts but runs for about five seconds and then dies. Fuel filters are new. Fuel is fresh - the other motor runs fine. Fuel pressure is fine. I am having a heck of a time getting the mechanics to free up to take this one on. Any thoughts on what troubleshooting steps I can proceed to next? It was running fine and then while operating above 2500 RPM it started to lose power dropping from 2500 to 700 RPM and then back again. I brought the boat back in and now it starts but won't run.

Has this boat sat up any length of time? Did you add fuel stablizer to the fuel and run it thru the system. It sounds like a fuel pressure problem. The high pressure fuel pump in the vst/fuel chamber. You need to put a fuel pressure gauge on this engine. There is a filter on the high pressure fuel pump. There is a drain on the vst/fuel chamber tank. Drain some fuel out and look to see what in there. If there mud in there you need to clean the vst tank and filter. Check the fuel pressure first.

Does your ball pump hard? Not firm, hard? I bet this is low pressure fuel pumps.
