My 11 yr old Yam 225 shows no serious signs of corrosion anywhere except the gizmo that you rotate to keep the engine at max tilt (for trailering etc) is very rusty and is getting progressively very hard to turn. Is there a simple way to replace this and its 1/2" shaft (or just even lubricate it)? The lever appears to be permanently mounted to the shaft which goes through the engine and then comes out on the other side where it appears to be permanently mounted to the lever on the other side.

yes its replacable. some are harder than others.
raise the engine and on the stbd side you will see the connecting link. usually I can manage to break it. orders the links and pins and bushings. its a common problem.
good luck and keep posting
