1998 Yamaha 225

trim just makes a clicking noise when I try to go up or down

any help would be great

fixed it

couple of love taps with a rubber mallet

Sounds like your trim motor need to be removed and checked. the brushes may need some attention.

well I took it apart

Brushes are junk and the motor smells burnt
