Yamaha 25 FS Problems

I have a 2002 Yammy Four Stroke 25 HP. When Declerating the speed jumps up and down. It makes for a slighly jerky ride. Sometiems worse than others. Please help!

Pull the hood off the engine and take a close look at the throttle linkage and see if anything is loose or you have excess play somewhere due to something that is worn. Can you move the carb butterfiles back and forth against the linkage? Is the throttle link to the igntion timing correct?

Thanks JimD. The engine is at my bay house which I go to on weekends. I will be sure and check it. Thanks again, any other ideas??
